HART Transit Emphasis Corridors Study and HART BRT Framework Plan
KAI conducted a study of bus service, facility, and preferential treatment alternatives for seven corridors in the Tampa area on a consultant team. The work included the development of an evaluation framework, identification of needed transit service; stop/station and preferential treatment improvements in each corridor; and a process for prioritizing investment among the seven corridors.
KAI was also on a team that assisted Hillsborough Area Regional Transit (HART) to explore the feasibility of implementing bus rapid transit (BRT) service in the greater Tampa area. Through this project, the HART BRT Framework Plan was prepared to identify specific BRT elements that characterize the desired HART BRT system. KAI developed the transit signal priority and real-time passenger information components of the Framework Plan. This work provided a foundation for HART's first Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) service.
