Miao (Mia) has over five years of experience as a transportation engineer/planner. She has a wide range of knowledge working on a variety of transportation projects. Mia has provided travel demand modeling support to Florida DOT and has also worked on long range transportation plans, traffic and revenue studies, transit ridership studies, corridor studies, traffic impact study and a number of other studies around the country. Mia’s technical skills include:
- Travel demand modeling using Cube, TransCAD, STOPS, TBEST;
- Traffic operational analysis using HCS, Synchro, VISSIM, CORSIM;
- Geospatial analysis using ESRI GIS products; and,
- Statistical analysis using Python, SPSS and SAS, and other software.
She has worked with trip-based 4-step models, as well as activity based models and she has also developed custom direct demand models for intercity passenger rail forecasting. Mia holds a Master’s Degree in Transportation Planning from the University of Nebraska.
