Special Event Traffic Management
Developing special event traffic management plans (TMPs) requires a comprehensive understanding of the FHWA Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) and state/local regulations, effective communication between multiple road authorities and stakeholders, and the ability to develop creative solutions to address unique traffic patterns. KAI regularly develops TMPs on behalf of public and private clients across the country. KAI prepares TMPs on behalf of public road and bridge infrastructure improvement projects; examples include short-term bridge closures, overnight lane closures, and freeway ramp closures at interchanges. KAI also develops TMPs on behalf of varied private entities including new or expanded athletic facilities, annual sporting events such as golf tournaments, unique special events including music concerts and festivals, and commercial-generated traffic events such as big box store grand openings and “Black Friday”.
